Bennie is a beautiful, bright-eyed
boy who is enjoying fun times at his foster home. His owner was
terminally ill and had to surrender Bennie into rescue. He was badly
matted and had terrible teeth when he came to APB, but he was cleaned up
by our marvelous groomer and given a dental by our vet.
Bennie has an allergy to corn and wheat products, so he needs food and
treats that are free of both. Most high quality foods do not have corn
or wheat, so it’s pretty easy to accommodate his diet! He is just
gorgeous but will require grooming on a regular basis. His coat is a bit
wiry, so we aren't sure what he is mixed with, probably some sort of
terrier. Bennie likes the other dogs in his foster home and is learning
to play with them, but he is not good with the cats in the house - he
likes to chase and bark!
Bennie is doing well on his
housebreaking but still marks, so he is crated when home alone and wears
a belly band at night (he gets to sleep on the bed with his foster
parents!) Bennie has a tendency to try to run off, so he would need a
home with a fenced yard or would need to be walked on leash, not just
let out to potty in an open area.
We do not know how Bennie is
around children, but since we believe he is part terrier, he would be
better with children 10 years or older. If you are interested in Bennie,
