This little girl is really amazing. She is blind in one eye and has very limited sight in the other. In addition to her handicap, she was raised in a puppy mill so she was scared of humans and had never lived in a house. She bumped into a lot of things when she was first here but after a few months, she has become very good at navigating around even in new places. She has learned to go outside all by herself and knows now that she is supposed to go potty outside. She is crated when no one is home because we are not completely convinced she has the whole housetraining thing down but she has learned to love to go outside and knows what is expected of her when she is out there. Sometimes she wants to come right back in so that she can get attention from humans but sometimes she has fun staying outside a little longer.
Since she is use to other dogs, she gets along with them really well and often plays with them. She has learned quickly about doggie toys and will take one in a doggie bed to have it all to herself – plus she doesn’t lose it and can easily find it if it is “stashed” in her bed.
Buffy now loves human attention and often comes “begging” for it. If you are sitting down, she likes to put her legs on your lap and gets all wiggly and happy when you talk to her and pet her. She can be so cute and it is a joy to see what a happy little dog she has become.
Both of Buffy’s eyes never developed completey and the condition is called micropthalmia. If you want to read more about it, you can go to http://www.doggedhealth.com/diseases-a-symptoms/diseases-a-conditions/microphthalmia.html
