Copper is a handsome, sweet boy who wants to have fun and be loved. He thrives on interacting with people and is eager to please. He responds well to praise and positive training. Copper is house trained and crate trained, but he gets lonely when left by himself and may bark in his crate for a while.

Copper loves to snuggle and flop over for belly rubs, and in fact his default greeting with new people is to roll over on his side! Copper sometimes gets to go to work with his foster mom and he is extremely well behaved - he doesn't get into things and he is a friendly greeter to everyone who comes by. Mainly, he is just so happy not to be home in his crate!

At home, Copper likes to race around in the yard (and he runs faster than any of the other beagles!), wrestle with the other dogs, chew on nylabones, and curl up on the sofa or doggie bed for a nap. Copper does enjoy playing with other dogs, but he can get grumpy with them if food is involved or if he feels they are invading his cherished space next to foster mom. However, as Copper has become more secure in his foster home, he has had fewer and fewer problems with the other dogs. He mostly ignores cats or might sniff after them, but the fact that the cats don't run tells me they know Copper means no harm (these cats know dogs all too well!). Ideally, Copper’s new home will have a fully fenced yard with an active family who can spend lots of time with him, and perhaps a doggie friend to play with in his own yard.
