Happy was surrendered to a humane society in Ohio when her owner became terminally ill, and when the shelter became full they contacted ABP so that Happy wouldn't have to be euthanized. Her breed is unknown, but Happy looks like she might be a sheltie/wirehaired terrier mix. Happy weighs about 38lbs and is roughly the size of a cocker spaniel - PERFECT SIZE! She is 10 years old and was just recently groomed because she was so hideously matted when she was surrendered that the shelter staff said that they couldn't tell which end of her was which! Happy's hair will grow back in long so she will need regular groomings to stay comfortable. She is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, she recently had a heartworm test and blood panel done, and she will microchipped before going to her new home.
Happy is house trained and so far she hasn't needed to be crated while left alone. She likes attention and being petted, but she does not jump up on you or your lap. Happy has been pretty scared lately since she has gone through so many sudden changes in her life, and she would probably do best in a home that has routines and is relaxed. Although she does VERY well around other dogs and cats, Happy does not need another canine companion to keep her company. Happy has also done well around children ages 7-12 in her foster home. Once she is settled in, Happy is a very mellow girl and also very good natured.
If you have room in your heart and home for Happy to spend the rest of her golden years, please contact: hanaburgh@att.net, or you can go to our website at www.apbpets.com and fill out an adoption application. Thank you!
