Squirrel is a 3-year-old, 15 pound, silver miniature poodle with an extreme enthusiasm for life. She is house trained, spayed, and microchipped. She has a luxated (dislocated) right hip joint and some dysplasia in her left hip but does not require surgery, suffers no pain and as long as she keeps exercising and doesnt put on extra pounds, she should suffer no ill effects.
Squirrel is a definite love sponge. Shell sleep at your feet, in your lap, in your bed or near you in whatever room you may be in. Should you travel into another room, she will follow you with great excitement knowing there must be something fascinating there requiring your presence. She is very catlike in her curiosity of all things and prances pretty much everywhere. Squirrel loves to move things and the floor is her domain. Paper she will destroy beyond recognition but everything else is undamaged. I return my boots and shoes to the back door every time I come home and she loves moving my slippers, sometimes even while I am wearing them. She does exhibit adult dog mouthiness but its in a puppy fashion. This is her checking everything out but again, is not destructive or harmful in any way.
Squirrel was a puppy mill dog so is rather sensitive/fearful but not as much as one might think, considering the conditions she came from. It took her a few hours to feel safe in my home and once that occurred, youd never know she was ever fearful. It is my understanding that she dislikes cats but she gets along very well with other dogs. She will tolerate you doing pretty much anything to her without argument. I have bathed her with no difficulty and the few times she has been in the car, she has handled it well. She is not high strung and barks rarely.
Squirrel is a real sweetheart and any family she joins will be better for it with the love and laughter she will bring. For more information on this darling, please email hanaburgh@att.net.
