Kahlua is an amazing dog. She listens very well and aims to please. She takes a few minutes to warm up to new people because she has been passed around SO much. This is something she will show improvement on once she finds her FUREVER home and realizes she isn’t going to be abandoned ever again. She is going to need a family who will continue working on socializing her by taking to places that she can go, like Pet supply stores and the park.
Kahlua is about 1.5 years old, house trained, crate trained, up to date on all of her vaccinations, and will be available for adoption as soon as she is spayed and microchipped. Our best guess is that she is an Black lab mixed with Italian greyhound or a terrier, and she weighs in at 45 lb. Kahlua is used to being around other dogs but seems to want to chase the cats in her foster home, AFTER she smells them. A home without cats might be best for her OR a home with a cat that can “hold its own” when it comes to her being a little too interested in it.
Kahlua’s only downfall is….and it’s a little one! Is that she gets car sick! So…. before vet visits or car rides ANYWHERE she should not eat or drink anything. You might end up finding it in your backseat before you get to your destination! With that being said, she does lay right down in the back seat and is not all over the place when you are driving.
Kahlua loves kids (8 or older), dogs, and toys. She absolutely LOVES “Kongs” with peanut butter in them. She will play forever with toys and enjoys throwing them up in the air and then chasing them where ever they land. She does get possessive of the toys she really likes when it comes to the other dogs in the house. So she is given those toys in her crate, which she is all to happy to go in for.
Kahlua is looking for a family that meets the following:
* Is willing to buy her lots and lots of peanut butter and Kongs.
* Parents that have a fenced in yard, will take her for routine or daily walks, and will never let her off leash.
* Parents who only use positive reinforcement training. Kahlua wears her heart on her sleeve and easily gets her feelings hurt.
* A household with another canine companion in it. But this is not required.
* A family who will continue socializing her so she is not so scared of new people and new situations.
