Hi, my name is Maddie. Nobody knows what my name used to be...but I was found wandering on Madison St. So, Maddie it is! Things haven't been so great for awhile, but APB is going to find me a great new home!
I came to APB with those nasty heartworm things...I've been treated for them, and I'm all better now. But, I'll need to have my heartworm preventative every month forever and ever. I'd much rather have a 'lil pill than great big pokes for treatment!
I'm a very happy girl now! I love to give kisses, go on walks, play with a tennis ball, and sleep in the sun! When my foster mom and I watch TV, she calls me her "couch pit-ato"! My favorite show is The Dog Whisperer - I pay lots of attention when all the doggies bark hello!
There are bunches of beds here, too. Usually, I choose the one closest to my foster mom, and sleep there - but my favorite is when we go to bed at night and I get to curl up with her!
I'm totally housetrained, and I have the run of the house! My crate is filled with cushy blankets and bones, and I like to go in there to hang out. The door is always open, 'cause I'm so good that I don't need to be crated.
I'm really good on a leash - my foster home doesn't have a fence. I'm learning "loose lead" so I can walk nice with my foster mom. I love to run around and chase my tennis balls, tho, so it would be nice to have a safe place to run around and play with them! I've got my own fleece coat to go for walks, and people smile when they see me in it!
I've only been around a few children, but I did OK with them. I'm probably not a good match for small ones, tho - they make all those quick, wild motions! There aren't any cats here, and when I see one, I try to chase it - they run up the tree, and I can't get 'em! I haven't been around any cats in the house, but I might be OK with a dog-savvy cat. I've met some dogs, on my walks, but I might be best as an only dog.
Update:
Maddie Paddie (as foster mom calls her) is doing well. She was Heart Worm positive and successfully treated for this, and is now heart worm negative. She will need to remain on monthly heart worm prevention for the rest of her life. She has gained weight and enjoys her two long walks a day. She is a very trusting girl and enjoys nothing more than being a couch pit-ato when foster mom watches tv or does other things in the front room. Maddie Paddie is a very happy girl, enjoys human interaction but other dogs and cats are not her forte, she prefers to be the only pet in the home. Thank you for helping her regain her health!
