Percy

Breed: Miniature Poodle
DOB: 2009
Sex: Neutered male
Weight: 16 pounds

Foster home: Julie
344-11

Spunky little Percy was an unclaimed stray in a shelter.  He was so matted that they weren’t even sure at first what breed to call him.  Most of his hair had to be shaved off but it will grow and he will be a very striking “looker” then.

Percy is excited about other dogs and tries really hard to play with them.  We don’t think he has been around dogs much because he mostly just runs around them and jumps at them but he has been watching other dogs playing and seems to be catching on how to have fun with them.  He definitely knows humans though and adores attention, although he isn’t use to being picked up – he will cower sometimes as if he isn’t sure why you are reaching for him.  He does jump up to greet you although we are working on gently trying to show him that not all humans appreciate getting dog paws on their legs. He seems to be pretty smart and wants to please so he shouldn’t be difficult at all to train for that and other things.  He didn’t seem to understand crate training but learned quickly that when it is time for the humans to go to work or to sleep, if he goes in a crate, he gets a treat.  He now lies right down and goes to sleep without a bit of a fuss.

So far, Percy rarely barks.  He loves to go outside but he hasn’t barked to let us know he needs to go outside.  He is on a schedule and hasn’t had any accidents with the routine of crating and being let outside on a regular basis.

We are not sure how Percy would be with really small children or cats.

If you are looking for a tall, dark and handsome young man to add to your life, Percy would be a great new companion!
