Potter is a loving sweetheart of a dog who is looking for a family who needs him as much as he needs them. He has a soft and gentle heart and adores human attention more than anything else in the world!
Potter originated as a stray so his age estimate of 7-8 years is mostly a guess. His breed combination of coonhound and greyhound is sometimes called a lurcher, and this breeding practice is used to add the greyhound speed to a scenthound hunting dog. In Potter's case, the outcome is a strong athletic dog who runs fast, but with legs flailing humorously in every direction!
Potter most likely lived his life outdoors, but he now loves the comforts of being in a home...his soft dog bed, yummy food, and snuggly doggie jammies to keep him warm. He was a very skinny boy for a while, but we have been working on getting Potter to eat more, and he is looking better than when these pictures were taken!
Potter loves people so much that he has no concept of personal space...he will put his feet on your lap, and inch himself closer, and lick your face until you make him get off, and then he will be right back. We are working on "off", but it can take some patience to convince Potter to give his beloved people their space sometimes.
Potter is such a peaceful boy that he lives happily with other dogs and kitties, but he would also be content as an only pet. Although he is tolerant enough to be around children of all ages, Potter would probably prefer the structure and predictability of an adult home.
