I think someone gave this little dog the wrong name.  Not too many princesses are like her.  If you prefer the slightly naughty, mischievous and hooligan type, then this is the princess for you!  This Princess thinks all the toys are just for her.  She also feels that the human lap is her preferred place of napping.  She wants your total adoration along with plenty of play times and if you are leaving, she would prefer to go with you rather than stay home.  Even though it almost sounds like Princess thinks she is an actual aristocrat, she is more of a tomboy – rough and rowdy playing, running around the yard chasing the big dogs, stealing a toy from another dog and playing keep-away are just some of her favorite pastime activities.  Often you just can’t help yourself from laughing at her antics.  When she is ready for some human attention, she is pretty demanding about getting in your lap and doesn’t always sit quiet.  She wants you to notice her and she will pester you by mouthing your hands or pushing at your arms and hands for attention.  She is like a princess in that she will not be ignored at these times!

While Princess would love go away with you when you leave, she does love the treats she gets when she goes in her crate.  If you go to the cupboard and get out treats, she is one of the first dogs to be standing in her crate waiting for her “cookie”.  She settles right down for a nap and is quiet and content so she doesn’t mind the crate at all.  As long as the weather is nice, she is quick to go right outside when she is let out of her crate to do her business.  She even likes to spend time outside playing as long as it isn’t too cold or raining out there.

After getting some playtime, Princess does have a favorite bed.  It has a pillow with a pillowcase and she has figured out how to get between the case and the pillow.  All you see is a little lump in the bed and she sleeps soundly.

When she was around a year old, Princess was surrendered to the shelter and her leg had been broken.  It was already healed so the surgery to correct it was only partly successful.  Her kneecap had been pushed completely out of its place and was at the side of her leg. She couldn’t use her leg at all.  The surgery done on Princess gave her partial use of the leg and she is more than happy with that as she is extremely agile and has no pain.  If more surgery was done to correct the kneecap, she would likely have some serious arthritis when she gets older so Princess has a leg that looks a little crooked but works just fine when she is “ripping” around outside or leaping on furniture or into laps.
