Hello! My name is SANDY, but my foster family likes to call me “SANDRA-DEE,” like the young woman in the movie “Grease”. I am a German Shepherd mix that was found wandering the streets at a busy intersection. It is obvious that someone loved me spent lots of time training me at some point, but I don't know why they stopped. Although I am considered a “senior” dog, I still have a lot of life to live and a lot of love to give. At 8 years old I am in GREAT health! According to the report card the veterinarian gave me my eyes, ears, nose and throat, heart, abdomen, lungs, gastrointestinal system, and urogenital system all appear to be normal. I am a VERY obedient dog and completely nondestructive in the home! I know sit, lay down, and how to shake (both paws). I do not even get on the living room furniture! I REALLY love people and love to give kisses. I also really like to be scratched and have my belly rubbed. I seem to get along with other dogs, but am the more dominant type. I am not food, toy or bone aggressive towards humans. However, I prefer not to share my food, toys or bones with other dogs. Therefore, it is imperative that you feed me separately from other dogs—which can easily be done. Please also separate me from other dogs when I am chewing on my bones and when I am playing with my toys. I do not mind watching other dogs chew on their bones though. That being said, I LOVE to play fetch with balls, “Air Dog” squeakies, and ropes. I take treats very gently, which makes my foster family very happy. I ride excellent in the car. I love to go for rides and I just sit calmly in the back seat—you would not even know I was in the car! I can be a little shy of new situations, but if I am given a few head pats and scratches I calm down. Although it isn’t my favorite thing, I tolerate baths, nail trimmings, and brushings without growling or biting. I am not an overly active dog and spend a lot of my time napping. I would make a WONDERFUL pet because I am out of the chewing stage, housebroken, laid back, and already spayed!
