Got Chip? APB's dogs do!
We're talking about a microchip - a small identification device about the size of a grain of rice. Microchips are inserted under the skin, generally between the shoulder blades. With an operating life of over 25 years, it will act as a permanent method of identification to help a lost dog return home.
APB believes it's important to "chip" our dogs, and we remain on the microchip information as a contact - if any of our dogs were to become lost, either before or after adoption, we can help reunite the dog with his owners. If all efforts at reuniting the dog fail, he or she would be brought back into the APB system rather than going to a shelter in the area where he or she was found.
How can you help?
Inexpensive though it is, the added "insurance" of a microchip doesn't come without a cost. An average of $10 per dog allows us to protect the dog with a microchip, or change the registrations of dogs that are owner surrendered (or strays without owner identification) to allow APB to become the dog's contact.

Our goal this holiday season is to make sure "no dog goes unchipped" - to borrow a phrase! Your $10 donation will allow you to select a dog or dogs to sponsor, and insure that they are microchipped before being adopted by their new forever home.

Your name will appear on a nameplate on the biography page of the dog that you choose - please let us know if you'd like your nameplate to reflect another name!
