Note: Annabelle and her sister Abby came to APB after being found as strays; their previous owner did not keep them on heartworm preventative, and they were both heartworm positive.
Sadly, Annabelle did not survive heartworm treatment. She started failing Saturday night and today I had to make the heart breaking decision to end her suffering. I wish Annabelle had been able to live a long happy life in a forever home. She was such a sweet soul and enriched my life.
Her sister, Abby, stayed close to Annabelle during those last days. I think Abby was aware at some level that Annabelle was nearing the end of her life.
Annabelle enjoyed her time with humans and even after she became so sick she managed to wag her tail every time I talked to her or walked by her. She slept in my room during the last days of her stay with me and was a joy. I will miss her. |
