Miss Gracie came to APB thru a group of Wire Fox Terrier Friends, lovers and rescuers, of which Gracies foster mom belonged. These friends gathered up as much money as possible to save Miss Gracie and another female wire, Darby, from a life of misery in the Missouri Puppy Mill system. Both girls were pregnant and up at Auction. We knew they just had to be saved. Not only did we save Miss Gracie and Darby but we also then saved their 9 unborn babies.
Gracie was a dear love to her foster mom, me, and I just knew that she had to have the MOST SPECIAL of homes, because this girl deserved the world! We searched thru many applications, but one jumped out from the rest...a perfect application from a perfect adopter...only problem...that adopter was in South Carolina...a long drive from her West Michigan foster home. Nonetheless, I knew this girl deserved this fabulous home. Me, my Wire, Roger, and my co rescuer in crime all drove to South Carolina to deliver this baby to her new home...and her new brother, Phipps, also a wire.
From before I even met Betty Lynn, I knew this was a perfect home for Miss Gracie. Betty Lynn opened her home and her heart to this poor little abused puppy mill mom, and gave her the best that she, or anyone else, could.
Betty Lynn, Mr. Phipps, our Wire Fox family, and probably, all of Columbia, SC, are now mourning the loss of this beautiful soul. Miss Gracie passed away on September 9, 2008, after 5 short years with Betty Lynn.
Miss Gracie was the queen of Southern Belles, and she is dearly missed by many many humans...and canines.
We love you Gracie...we will anxiously await the day we get to meet again, over the bridge. |
